Thwaites & Reed 22 Bell, 7 Tune Bracket Clock. Original 8 in. painted metal dial signed "Thwaites & Reed, Clerkenwell, London", has an arched top with 3.5 in. sub dials for "Chime" & "Not Chime" and a second for selecting from 7 tunes, has fancy pierced brass hands; quality brass spring driven triple fusee movement signed on the front plate "T&W - 7315", filigree engraved rear plate and bracket arms, anchor escapement, 2 nests of bells and a quality brass pendulum. The nests of bells include a nest of 9 bells, the largest of which strikes the hour with the other 8 bells playing a single tune (Di Tanti Palpiti) in a quarter hour progression from a 1.75 in brass cylinder and a nest of 13 bells playing in quarter hour progression from a 5.5 in. long x 3 in. dia. cylinder, other tunes include Huntsmans Chorus, Auld Lang Syne, Tyrolese Air, The Lansers, There's Nae Luck & Buy A Broom. Movement is in running condition, strikes, changes tunes, has a repair to the arm on the nest of 13 bells, minor paint flaking and inpainting to the original painted dial. In a beautiful mahogany case with brass inlays and brass ball feet having an enhanced original finish, in good overall condition with a minor molding loss to the frieze above the door, minor veneer loss; repeater switch on the side of the case is detached from the lever inside, but the lever works; has door key and winding key. 22.25 in. high x 15 in. wide x 10.5 in. deep.
