8 Samson Porcelain Reticulated Armorial Plates. 4 pairs of 9 in. dia. porcelain plates having a reticulated border with gilt highlights, red and green flowers and filigree; the plate centers have white enamel, colorful filigree and armorial crests with figures flanking shields. The banner of each crest reads "esse quam videri" (lion & goat), "sola virtus invicta" (lion & horse), "god shaw the right" (2 stags) and "sperabo" (2 winged griffins). Each is signed on the back with a faux Chinese seal mark attr. to Edme Samson et Cie; no chips or repairs to the porcelain, minor wear to the enamel highlights, paint in overall good condition. Weight: 8.25 lbs.
